About GAMREN

The Gambia Research and Education Network (GAMREN) is a specialized network infrastructure dedicated to providing high-speed, reliable connectivity to academic and research institutions across The Gambia. Launched in September 2023 with support from the World Bank and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MoHERST), GAMREN represents a digital revolution in The Gambia's tertiary and higher education ecosystem.

GAMREN aligns with the Government of The Gambia's development agenda — empowering Gambians with enhanced academic and research opportunities while fostering innovation for socio-economic growth. It supports The Gambia's Recovery-Focused National Development Plan 2023-2027 and connects the country to the pan-African and global research network ecosystem.
