The Gambia Research and Education Network (GAMREN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the West and Central African Research and Education Network (WACREN) to formalise collaboration towards the successful organisation of the WACREN 2026 Conference. The Conference will be held at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara (SDKJ) International Convention Centre in Banjul, from 23rd to 27th March, 2026.
The agreement outlines the roles and responsibilities of both parties in supporting the planning and delivery of the Conference. Under the MoU, GAMREN will collaborate closely with WACREN in areas such as coordination, stakeholder engagement, and other agreed contributions to ensure a high-impact, well-organised event.
The WACREN Conference is the region’s flagship annual gathering of National Research and Education Networks (NRENs), higher education institutions, researchers, policymakers, development partners, and technology providers. The 2026 edition is expected to convene key stakeholders to discuss advancing digital infrastructure, research collaboration, cybersecurity, trust and identity, and digital sovereignty across West and Central Africa.
By signing this MoU, GAMREN reaffirms its commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and supporting initiatives that advance research and education networking in Ghana and across the WACREN region.
